Narrative
WASHINGTON, D.C. – A multi-vehicle crash along a major roadway in east-central Washington D.C. injured four people on Wednesday.
The accident happened just after 9 a.m. on Southern Avenue, between East Capitol Street Northeast and Clay Street Northeast. This is just east of Watts Branch Playground.
Police aren’t sure what caused the vehicles to collide. They say that at least one person became entrapped in their vehicle and required extrication. Photos taken at the scene show a black sedan with airbags deployed and unrecoverable damage.
Two people sustained critical injuries, and another two went to the hospital with serious injuries.
