Narrative
WASHINGTON D.C. – Two 52-year-old brothers died earlier this month following a two-vehicle crash along the Arlington Memorial Bridge.
The accident happened on the evening of Thursday, January 16th on the bridge over the Potomac River.
Police say that a pickup truck crashed through the railing of the bridge and landed in the river after colliding with another vehicle. It’s not yet clear what caused the initial collision.
Emergency teams rescued one person from the pickup truck on Thursday. That person died soon after at an area hospital.
Crews found the second victim on Friday and declared him deceased at the scene of the accident.
Authorities have since identified the victims as twin brothers Jerod and Jerel Wert of Maryland.
A full investigation is underway.
